“Paws” the puppy is a soft toy comforter and a house hold favourite in our family.  Made from soft certified organic, GOTS certified cotton, 'Maud N Lil's' “Paws” the puppy has been loved by children as a comforting blankie, a plush toy and a dummy clip for many years. These gorgeous comforters make the perfect baby gift or baby shower gift.

What is a comforter?

A comforter is a transitional object; a soft toy or a small blanket, that a baby will use to help self-soothe. Introducing a comforter will help to settle and support your baby through developmental changes ~ separation anxiety, falling asleep, going through changes and even comfort during sickness. These beautiful comforters have also been known to become best friends!

When do I introduce a comforter?

Comforters can be introduced at birth for cuddling and settling children, however should not be left in the cot after the infant has fallen asleep until after seven months of age. When children go through important cognitive developmental milestones around nine months of age and again at two years, babies start to experience confidence and develop their sense of individuality. During this time, they may experience separation anxiety and introducing a comforter can help your baby feel safe, secure and reminded of you.

How do I introduce a comforter?

When introducing a comforter, Maud N Lil recommend holding them close to your skin when holding your baby so the smell becomes familiar. Once the comforter smells familiar, place it next to your baby to settle at bedtime. We have found babies fall asleep quickly once they have their comforters with them.

What do I look for in a comforter?

It's important that your baby comforter is made from organic, breathable fabric. Alike From the Forrest, Maud N Lil choose to make all their baby toys and comforters from pure organic cotton which is completely chemical-free, non-toxic and skin-friendly. This is important as are safer for baby and will naturally absorb your scent.

Maud N Lil comforters come with the option of attaching a dummy so that your child can also settle with comfort and softness All comforters are designed with a back-neck loop with Velcro so you can strap them to the pram or your nappy bag, just to make sure it doesn’t get lost.

How do I care for a comforter?

Maud N Lil's beautiful comforters are made using the purest, softest organic cotton and non GMO natural corn starch fibre filling that is produced ethically and sustainably, so it's gentle on baby and the earth!

  1. Wash your Maud N Lil toy by hand in warm water and allow to dry naturally
  2. Products may feel heavy and stiff due to the wet organic cotton and corn starch fibre and will soften as they dry
  3. The filling is natural and therefore sensitive to high temperatures – please keep below 50 degrees celsius.

The busy life of a comforter!

Maud N Lil's very cherished comforters certainly live a well-rounded life. Some have been on so many adventures with your child that they may get lost or need a trip to the wash, in which case, a back-up is what you need. It’s always a good idea to keep a spare one handy!
